What do you want to see in the new edition of Stretching & Flexibility?
First, the 'working title' is Flexibility for Every Body. The new edition is a 100% new book: new text, new arrangement of the material, new illustrations, and many many new exercises and photographs. Here are the preliminary ideas:
1. The recent edition has the lesson, or class, structure, including the Unnumbered Lesson (more on this below).
The new book will have all exercises arranged by movement function group: preliminary groups include all spinal movements, all upper limb exercises, all lower limb exercises, and compound movements that include all, or many, of these. As you'd expect, the compound movements are the more intermediate and advanced exercises, so belong later in the book.
Neck exercises belongs to the spinal group, as do the hip flexors, because of their role in shaping the spine, and all the muscles of the trunk—so the exercises that address all fundamental spinal functions will be found here. Some Strengthening exercises are found here.
The upper limb group includes the shoulder girdle (and the muscles that move it), the shoulder joint, the uuper arm, the forearm, and the hand.
The lower limb group includes preparation lunging movements (including basic balance and feet positioning), all piriformis exercises, glute exercises, quadriceps exercises, hamstring exercises, and all lower leg exercises.
The Compound group puts these elements together. Examples include the forward bend over both legs, the quadratus lumborum exercises, more advanced backward bends, strong rotations, mre difficult balances, more advanced strength exercises, and so on.
2. I will do all the photography, combining two of my passions. I intend to begin in Vancouver this June, and a followup in October—if you want to model for the inages, please attend these workshops!
I have prepared and am curently testing two travelling camera systems: the Fuji S5 Pro and the Sigma SD-14. Both employ non-standard sensors, and I hope to make really intesting and lovely images with them. I am starting the shooting in Vancouver at the West Coast Pilates Studio (the "second home" of P&F---thanks Linda and Carol!) awhen we are presenting the Stretch Therapy workshops.
I want to include images of the teachers there as well as the physical location. Flexibility for Every Body will be international from day one!. The remainder of my travelling kit comprises my flash units: no longer do I need the big studio strobes. With a camera and a lens or two, and the three flash units, I can light any area—and it becomes my studio. I intend to use the same setp at the ANU for the remainder of the exercise images.
3. Only essential anatomy will be shown (the "functional anatomy" many of you have heard me refer to). I will use some illustrations from the new Overcome neck & back pain and some new ones---any graphic artists who might be interested in contacting me about this part of the process, please do!
That's all for now. Please comment on this plan, and give me all your "must see in the new book" lists. All suggestions are gratefully received, and will be acknowledged in the new edition. Be part of a best seller! Cheers to all, KL

Hey Kit, Hello Rowan, Dear Mr. Kit! I have read your book (Overcome neck ...) because my Booss came from Australia. I am a shiatsu-therapist, and I love your book and method very much. I would like to study this method and use my practice (AMMT) Do I have any chance to talk to you about your shool here in my country Budapest? It would be so nice! As an owner of the latest edition of ONBP as well as SnF, and a big follower of your ideas as they ring true with my own... I would love to see more information included within SnF regarding ideaology of method and practice. The anicdotes and "essays" found within ONBP made it much more enjoyable to read through and take in all it has to offer. I am still a newbie when it comes to using this pMachine interface... Jared, Hi Kit,
I am an avid follower of your methods and am seeing great results in my own flexibility. Tell me, do you have any courses or plans to run courses in NZ? I think this would go down really well. I am a personal trainer and run a lot of flexibility sessions for adults, particularly for those late starters to martial arts and other flexibility based sports. I am positive there is a large market for those who would gain a lot from your teaching methods.
Another question, somewhat personal to me in terms of personal goals, and after reading your profile perhaps it was the same for you, just in terms of you achieving your splits sretching as an adult, how long did that take for you when you consistently applied your CR method? this has been a goal of mine for nearly a year now with only small gains.
thanks for your time and look forward to hearing from you soon.
Rowan Wik
Sorry, I have been away running workshops in Vancouver and the Caymans; YouTube videos to be published very soon.
Please contact me directly re. teaching in NZ; I would love to come over again. I co-presented with a number of other in the Gym UpSkill event a few years ago (run by Dave Liow; not sure of the spelling of his surname) and we got a very good response.
Re. side splits: it took about six months of once-a-week (sometimes twice) to get right down for the photos in the book. It is a very difficult ROM for me personally; I am working on it again now. After that time in hospital, I lost that ROM completely., and the sensation in the adductors (mainly gracilis) was that it would tear, rather than stretch, so I left it alone. Now it feels back to normal---but this took five years to get back to normal!
After the last few sessions though (helped, I think, by getting fitter general) I feel that I can stretch this ROM again.
Cheers, KL
Greetings, and sorry for the bad grammar.
Zsuzsa
On a similar note, I'd love to see information regarding SI-Joint issues tackled from the trauma side rather then just from the muscular side for completeness and how to rehabilitate it.
Either way, I can't wait for the new book and will definately purchase it!
So, Zsuzsanna: as I wrote to you privately, I would be delighted to come to Budapest and run a workshop there, and that goes for anywhere else in the world, too. I an an Australia and an EU passport, so can work anywhere in Europe.
Regards
Kit
We are in the process of finishing the Overcome neck & back pain and Stretching & Flexibility update DVDs, and they will be released before the new book.
I am going to post on this separately; we are going to sell both of the present versions of both books WITH the DVD updates fitted into the back covers, as "enhanced" versions.
While these are being sold, we will finish work on the new book; incorporate as many of the ideas received as we can, and make a DVD for it, too.
I just bought your book. Have not finished reading - but I like it!
it helps me a lot, thanks!
Uli
Thank you Uli!
Cheers
