The Doctor (Australia)
"I have been seeing Sharon (Clark, P&F Practitioner) for about 8 weeks now in an effort to recover from a recurrence of an L5/S1 disc prolapse I suffered some years ago.
In the past I have tried gym work that was mainly strength-orientated with a little stretching. While this did help, I was still troubled with lower back pain. I also attended two Pilates sessions per week for about eight weeks which was beneficial up to a point. I still feel I was not becoming more flexible and although the incidence of may back pain was less, it still troubled me at times. Eventually, I aggravated my disc lesion with a combination of poor flexibility and inappropriate activity.
I decided to see Sharon after having seen the effect she had on my 23-year-old son after he also suffered an L5/S1 injury. He had returned to all his usual activities which included surfing, skateboarding and snowboarding. He felt that, after working with Sharon, he was able to perform all these activities at a much higher level than he had done before he hurt his back.
I was very impressed with Sharon’s knowledge of the musculoskeletal system and the understanding she had of the pathology affecting muscles, joints and bones. This, coupled with her in-depth appreciation of stretching, her ability to assess a person’s problem and her unique therapeutic techniques, make Sharon what I think is the most effective practitioner when it comes to musculoskeletal problems.
In my case, as well as making the most significant improvement in my back problem that I have experienced, Sharon has correctly diagnosed a problem I was having with a painful patella which has now been solved with the institution of quadriceps stretching.
I am absolutely convinced that Sharon and her form of stretching have a very real place in the rehabilitation of many musculoskeletal problems. I also feel that this form of stretching has a role in the day to day fitness and general health of the community and therefore have no hesitation in supporting Sharon in her endeavours."
